Left n. Rim on beautiful hwy 89a ...lots of photo ops and stops including Colorado River @ Lee's Ferry. Staying in 3 bedroom superspacious house on a lake country club setting with John and Pat as well as Doug and Zoey. We 2 drove to Meteor Crater on 6/25 and for a lovely drive after. Welcome dinner at country club had great food...we got to meet the bride and see other extended family. Nice time!
We drove out of Bryce on 6/19 onto 22 up to 62 then 24 where we encountered Capital Reef. At rt 12 we saw even more but the sun was going down with 120 miles to go! We got back just in time to eat and decided to return as far as Boulder Utah with some beautiful scenery then we drove on to the north rim of the Grand Canyon. Day 1, birdwstching,hiking,relaxing , Bright Angel overlook and dinner on the veranda. Day 2 Kaibab trail for pay with guide Keek. Fun! Went over to the Imperial trail for beautiful view despite showers.Nice time.
We started at Bryce Point this time with superb over looks and Rim trail views. We went twice to the end finding the Natural.Bridge. Today we went on the Queens Garden trail where you can get closer views of the hoodoos. We just could not get an early start so had to.limit walking in the heat of the day but we saw everything! Great visit!
We left @ 6:30 am to walk the Riverside path which leads to the Narrows where others continued on the rocky water path. We came back thru beautifully lit red mountain walls. We saw a deer very close chomping away...After brunch in Springdale we continued on rt 9 up into the mountains . There was spectacular scenery all the way to Bryce as well. We ate @ the Bryce Pines restaurant: homemade cherry pie fantastic!
Splendid day at one of the Earth's most spectacular places. Very hot again today. Did go on Emerald pool trail. Even saw some birds!
We drove from Las Vegas to Springdale Utah. There was plenty of spectacular scenery in 108 degree dry heat. The hotel at Zion is surrounded by beautiful mountains.
A lovely place to be!
