Met Kevin's brother John and wife Judy a couple of times. Went birdwatching at Chula Vista opposite shipping area and saw a few birds but many more in Coronado where we spent a relaxing afternoon with view of city skyline and lots of birds including surf scoter and western grebe and Heermann's gull. Went to gas lamp area for dinner. Next day went to Balboa Park to museum and lunch at El Prado with John and Judy.

Great time at this large museum with lots of great art...nice restaurant for al fresco

Getty 2/13/16

Drove to Getty for all day museum experience...took 2 tours one of highlights and one of Woven Gold exhibit of tapestries from Belgium and France..had nice lunch there too.

Leaving Death Valley for LA 2/12/16

Stopped at Zabriskie Point and Dumont Dunes on the way to Duarte east of Pasadena where we visited the Norton Simon Museum for 2 hrs then ate there too...charming town with Rose stripe down w Colorado. Fun time!

Death Valley 2/11 going north

Birded then up to Uheebee crater then on to Stovepipe Wells and Mosaic Canyon filled with marble and later Golden Canyon.

Death Valley 2/10

Started out birdwatching at the golf course near the visitors center then on to Badwater Road for some beautiful wild flowers as well as salt flats and colorful rocks. Had steak at hotel dining room at Ranch at Furnace Creek.

2/9/16 Las Vegas to Death Valley

We arrived in LV @ 10:30 am and got right on the road in our Hertz Hyundai Santa Fe going on rt 160 to the Old Spanish trail first under snow covered Mt Charleston and on to Furnace Creek, Death Valley to the Ranch. Beautiful place!
