We rode the rr to Antwerp for a pleasant day. Cathedral there was a highlight 4 Rubins and other lovely art. The town square also pretty. What we didn't care for was all the Mcdonalds as well as H&Ms and other stores found in every city we visited. The station was very pretty with old and new architecture working well together. In cluding photo of a painting that Queen Eliz.1 wanted:blows my mind something that old!
Today we saw Siena works and more Rubins:he was from Antwerp.
Last night we went to a concert:Orchestra of Lille played Ravel, Debussy &Stravinsky. Night before @cathedral Goldberg variations with piano and organ alternating. Went to.town square for escargot and coqiille st.jacques:delish! AND the weather was 74 so we could eat outdoors and hear the music and hubbub esp of nrby Belgian beer joint!
Fun vacay...Ready for home 10/19!

10/15 Day in Milan
We had stayed N. Of Milan so drove to our hotel to drop off the bags then to the airport to drop off the car. From there we took a 30 minute train to Milan and had a lovely time seeing several churches including the Duomo. Nice walking with plenty of window shopping opportunities! Got the flavor of a very charming city...street performers like this bottle guy who was very entertaining...get a load of the giant spaghetti on billboard!

10/14/14 to Bellagio then across by ferry
The rain finally stopped and the sun looked terrific on the mountains this morning from our room! The ferry ride was short but did take the car. Nice view of Bellagio! Did I tell you that George Clooney has house across from Nesso that's all the rage with the locals? Saw Lake Lugano in Switzerland but went back to Italy.

VENICE 10/8 -9
We arrived not knowing thinking of the obvious: no place for cars! We had to drive back to Mestre the last town on dry land to return the car. We were lucky that the drop off area was a 7 minute walk away albeit with stairs on the bridge but I carried my own suitcase!
This an awesome place with lots of history...we walked to St Mark's taking all day to do it with multiple stops...took the waterbus back: only 7 euros! Visited the Rialto Bridge then boated under it. Finished off with a full moon over the Grand Canal!

10/7/14 in Trieste
We met Dennis and Matt at hotel then spent the day at the 13th century church and castle then walking through the city and pier into the Adriatic.Dinner later along theGrand Canal of Trieste.
Ljubljana,Slovenia 10/5-10/6
We arrived at dusk...small but efficient, clean, cheap room in a city that surprised us with one restaurant after the other on both sides of the river with lots of people enjoying them. There were many bridges as well including the triple bridge very well lit and the dragon bridge with one dragon at each corner. On Mon.we visited 2 churches and walked around the market. The city has a castle as well. On the way to Trieste we stopped for a cave tour...train ride then walking in this enormous space! Lots of formations dating back a million+ years.
